St. Jude Marathon

Friends and Readers.

I can't even begin to put into words how I feel going into this coming weekend. Excited, frieghtened, elated, nervous, energized; the list goes on forever. But, no matter the word I use to describe it, the last one is always; thankful.

Thankful that my family and I have not needed St. Jude for one of our own children.

Thankful that St. Jude has supported so many of my friends' children.

Thankful to have St. Jude in memphis.

Thankful to have St. Jude.

If you have not and would like to, please join me in supporting the work of St. Jude.

Their work is never done.

I hope to see a few of you on the streets of Memphis cheering for runners and cheering for the kids of St. Jude.

Thankful,

Rachel

A giant mess

There's a HUGE mess in my old dining room. And I'm so grateful for it. This giant mess exists because I have a new sewing machine, a new cutting mat and SEVERAL new and open orders to do.

You know I spend a lot of time worrying about money, my children and how I'm going to get it all done, and sometimes things have a way of telling me what should happen.

My good friend, Shelley, is the director of the preschool where my children attend. She invited me to come do a fundraiser for the school and take orders for embroidery and monogramming at the school. BEST IDEA EVER!! It helps spread the word about my little business, gives me new opportunities to stretch my sewing legs and an easy way to increase my income. All good things!

So now, here I sit, surrounded by a huge mess. And my babies are happy. And my daughter's foot is healing. And my son is home from basketball practice and is mostly helpful.

Life is alright.

Time to give thanks

I have often wondered what it is about November 1 that makes people start deciding to be thankful.

Is it that it's the date, so it's the right thing to do?

Is that now they feel they should?

Maybe there's guilt involved?

What is it for you?

For me, I have decided that instead of only November, it's time for me to start giving thanks more. I've read several articles lately about how to raise great kids, have a great family, marriage, etc. do you know what they all say? They all say to be thankful and to put your spouse/family first.

I am making a commitment to my family. I'm committing my life to them. I know it sounds trite, but I feel like I need to be accountable to that statement. So many opportunities are in front of my family right now and I need to make sure I'm doing the best I can for my family in that effort.

What do you need to commit to? What do you have to be thankful for?

Feel free to share in the comments below.

Lissy Jane's 2nd Birthday

How can you not get excited when your cute little person is turning 2!?!?

We invited friends and everyone joined us for great fun at The Children's Museum of Memphis! We all had a great time!

Geoff made 2 marbled cakes, we decorated the tops with cars and everyone got to eat and play!

The table looked great with party hats and the tissue bubbles.

Dilly enjoyed playing on the floor while we waited for friends to arrive.

After cake and ice cream and singing Happy Birthday, it was time to go play!

Once we got home, Lissy had a great time opening her gifts from her friends and family. Including, hiding in the tunnel after dinner!

Happy 2nd Birthday Lissy Jane!!!

Time to get this right/write

I've been spotty at best with my blog posting. It's about to get real y'all. This summer is filled with swim team for Annie new adventures for the little girls, Jonas getting ready for football in the fall and me teaching summer school...and training for my first full marathon in December!

Not sure if I'll stick to my old post schedule, but I'm back on the wagon, so to speak. It's all gonna be here!!!

Today's lissy's actual birthday, so I'll be sure to give you a recap of that! Can't believe baby #3 is 2!!!

Please support me and the kids of St. Jude

St. Jude Heroes
Dear Blog Friends and Followers,
I am participating in the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend to support the kids of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. As a St. Jude Hero, I have a personal goal to raise $1000 for the kids of St. Jude. I have already pledged $50 myself and am looking for ways to increase donations to St. Jude!
Will you help me support St. Jude by donating today? http://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR/Heroes/Heroes?px=2229961&pg=personal&fr_id=4820
How your donation helps:
  • Thanks to donors like you, no family ever pays St. Jude for anything, including lodging, food and travel.
  • St. Jude will continue to improve treatment of childhood cancer and other deadly diseases through its groundbreaking research.
  • For every child treated here, thousands more have been saved worldwide through St. Jude discoveries.
Please visit my St. Jude Heroes fundraising page to make a donation.
I hope you will join me in supporting the kids of St. Jude!
Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Rachel Kannady
