A giant mess

There's a HUGE mess in my old dining room. And I'm so grateful for it. This giant mess exists because I have a new sewing machine, a new cutting mat and SEVERAL new and open orders to do.

You know I spend a lot of time worrying about money, my children and how I'm going to get it all done, and sometimes things have a way of telling me what should happen.

My good friend, Shelley, is the director of the preschool where my children attend. She invited me to come do a fundraiser for the school and take orders for embroidery and monogramming at the school. BEST IDEA EVER!! It helps spread the word about my little business, gives me new opportunities to stretch my sewing legs and an easy way to increase my income. All good things!

So now, here I sit, surrounded by a huge mess. And my babies are happy. And my daughter's foot is healing. And my son is home from basketball practice and is mostly helpful.

Life is alright.

Time to give thanks

I have often wondered what it is about November 1 that makes people start deciding to be thankful.

Is it that it's the date, so it's the right thing to do?

Is that now they feel they should?

Maybe there's guilt involved?

What is it for you?

For me, I have decided that instead of only November, it's time for me to start giving thanks more. I've read several articles lately about how to raise great kids, have a great family, marriage, etc. do you know what they all say? They all say to be thankful and to put your spouse/family first.

I am making a commitment to my family. I'm committing my life to them. I know it sounds trite, but I feel like I need to be accountable to that statement. So many opportunities are in front of my family right now and I need to make sure I'm doing the best I can for my family in that effort.

What do you need to commit to? What do you have to be thankful for?
