Crafting??

HI have a large space for my craft area. Larger than most in fact. Why is it that it looks like such a mess?!?
For some reason it constantly looks like someone has dumped tons of extra stuff everywhere!!!
One of my biggest goals for this summer is getting this area cleaned up, getting back on top of my business and repair sewing and maybe even making time for some fun sewing...
I'll keep you posted. (Better than I have been.)
Hope your summer has been going well!!!

Project 1: Melted Crayons...Pinterest made me do it!

I have often wanted to try this project. I have seen dozens of similar pins about it and I thought it would be a fun and simple way to get started trying all these pins that I have.

This past saturday I wanted to start with something that I have seen over and over and that I thought would most likely be easier to do.

Broken crayons seem to be all over my house, which made this project seem to be a great way to get them out of here! Doesn't it seem that with kids we have broken crayons everywhere?!?

First things first, find a pin that works...It's it always a bummer when they don't? Once I found one that works, I gathered my crayons, cupcake papers and a cupcake tin ( I actually got out 2 because I knew that I wanted to make several crayons.)

Obviously, before I could get started, I had to peel all the paper off of the crayons. This is definitely a great activity for kids, as this was INCREDIBLY time consuming for me.Next up, of course, put them in the oven and wait.

Once they go in, it is important that you turn them in the oven, if you would normally turn your cakes or casseroles. If your oven cooks evenly, then you don't have to worry about it. But don't forget they're in there!

When they come out they'll look like a mess. I mean this.

After you let them cool, you can pull the cups out of the cupcake tins and put the crayons on a plate. Give them at least a good hour or two to cool off before you put them in something else, like a baggie or rubbermaid, that way they cool off all the way and don't stick together.

Once I knew they had cooled off enough I gave them to Lissy to color.

All-in-all, the activity was a lot of fun! I really enjoyed getting to play mad-scientist and Lissy seemed to really enjoy having big crayons to color with!

Happy Pinning!

Dilly baby!

It has taken me waaaay to long to post but, baby Dilly has arrived!

On June 2nd at 12:37am we welcomed Lillian Daphne Kannady as baby number 4! She is such a beauty, brown hair and blue eyes.

Aaand, mommy's finally gotten back to crafting! I made 2 burp cloths for a a friend, a changing pad for Dilly, a placemat (with 5 more to come), and I'm in the process of finishing a quilt!

I also went over to a new sewing store here called "sewMemphis". The shop is super cute and they're going to hang one of my sew-nifty prep boards in their store and help sell them!

Geoff and Jonas had a great time with baseball and got to have a win for the last game. Annie recently had a swim meet and dropped time in two of her events. Lissy is cruising and celebrated her first birthday on June 18!!!

What a busy time these past 3 weeks have been for us all!
